We welcome submissions that include the following: a cover letter with a project summary, a description of the author's experience, and an outline and/or introduction to the project. A project market analysis with titles, publishers, dates, etc., of all similar titles (and how this work differs) must also be included. Submit at least 25 pages of text and manuscripts must be typed and double spaced. If the project includes artwork, please send sample copies (NOT originals). Mail all submissions to our mailing address below marked to the attention of the “Acquisitions Team.”
If you’re unsure of how to write a query letter or proposal, there are books available at your local bookstore or library. Some suggested readings: A Writer's Guide to Book Publishing by Richard Balkin; ISBN: 0452270219. How to Write a Book Proposal by Michael Larson; ISBN: 0898797713.
If you want a response, you must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope; if you want your work returned, supply a SASE with sufficient postage. We cannot respond to your query or return your work without return postage. We do not accept proposals on disk, by fax, or online. WE DO NOT DISCUSS QUERIES, MANUSCRIPTS, OR BOOK IDEAS OVER THE PHONE. After your submittal, it may take our Carolina Avenue Press acquisitions editor up to four months to review your manuscript. Thank you for your interest!
